Lochabar Beach Lodge Ltd. is where you really can get away from it all! When was the last time you were awakened by the singing of island birds or lulled to sleep by nothing but an ocean breeze? A place such as Lochabar Beach Lodge is hard to find and even harder to leave. It offers: wedding planning, air-conditioned rooms, bonefishing, snorkeling, beachcombing, blue water fishing, tarpon fishing, guides, relaxation, diving, cave exploration, sunbathing and swimming. The lodge is a small and private three unit guest house situated directly on the beach 2 miles south of Clarence Town (about 5 minutes drive). The lodge consists of two downstairs units and one upstairs apartment. The lodge also overlooks one of the island's two "blue holes". The downstairs unit is a one-bedroom apartment with a complete kitchen, living room, king-sized bedroom and a full bath. This unit rents for $150.00 nightly or $1000.00 weekly. All rates are for two person occupancy and there is also a 10% room tax. A deposit is required for all reservations and we do accept credit cards. There is a 4% charge on all credit card transactions. Just south of the Tropic of Cancer, Montreal expats Pierre and Anne Laurence found their little bit of heaven on 3.2 hectares (8 acres) of land opening onto a wide crescent beach of white sand. Here they built and attractively furnished a cluster of bungalows overlooking the sea, each with a screened-in porch. All the units come with private bathrooms with showers. This is the most eco-sensitive resort in the Southern Bahamas, as Chez Pierre is powered by alternative energy; the sun and the wind keep it running. A few steps from the beach cottages is an ocean-fronting restaurant that serves the best food on the island, a blend of French, Italian, and Caribbean cuisine, using island-grown fresh produce along with fresh fish and seafood from local waters. The location is halfway between Stella Maris and Deadman's Cay. Facilities include restaurant; bar; fishing; kayaking; reef fishing; salt-water fly fishing; snorkeling; bikes; island tours; babysitting.
